About this resource

A plan only works if people can use it. This template plans training for each key strategy: who needs it, how it will be taught through explanation, modelling, practice and feedback, how competence will be checked and when refreshers will happen, including for new staff.

Purpose

To make sure everyone can use agreed strategies consistently.

Who it is for

Primary profession: Positive behaviour support practitioners. Also relevant for disability support workers, NDIS providers and support coordinators.

Client or participant group: Behaviour support practitioners and team leaders.

Practice setting: Implementation of behaviour support plans.

Suggested uses

  • Behaviour support plan implementation
  • New staff induction
  • Refreshers
  • Quality reviews

Instructions for practitioners

  1. Prioritise proactive strategies.
  2. Use modelling and practice, not just reading the plan.
  3. Observe staff using strategies and give feedback.
  4. Plan training for new and casual staff.
