- Train workers in it, keep the training record, and give participants an accessible version where it affects them.
Accessibility considerations
Clear headings and numbered steps. The Word version is fully editable so you can add your logo and details.
Scope and limitations
An editable template and practical record. It is not legal advice and does not by itself show that a provider meets the NDIS Practice Standards. Check it against the current Practice Standards, NDIS rules, your registration groups and your state or territory's laws, and adapt it to how your service really works. Rules on who may administer medicines, and on Schedule 8 medicines, differ by state and territory. Have a pharmacist or registered nurse review your procedure.
Higher-risk topic: use only within your training, supervision and organisational procedures.
Research basis
The Core Module expects records that clearly identify each participant's medication and dose, workers who understand effects, side effects and what to do after an incident, and secure storage accessed only by trained workers. National guidance sets out principles for managing medicines in the community. Implementing providers must obtain authorisation under state or territory arrangements, lodge evidence with the NDIS Commission, and report monthly on regulated restrictive practices, including when a practice was not used. Use that is unauthorised or not in line with a behaviour support plan is a reportable incident.
