Scope and limitations

A template. Ask your insurer whether written consent is needed, and check recording laws in your state or territory. Consider whether a recording is appropriate for high-risk sessions.

Research basis

Ahpra advises that practitioners stay responsible for records created with AI tools, should tell people about their use of AI, and generally need informed consent for an AI scribe because it uses personal data. Health service providers must handle health information in line with the Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles, including telling people what is collected and why, and obtaining consent where required.

What is included

A 2-page printable A4 PDF, including a practitioner notes page with the research basis (version 1.0).
